Pat Chamberlain is currently working as a consultant with school districts, programs and agencies on issues related to optimizing the educational opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse children and their families. She received her B.S. from University of Illinois-Champaign in Spanish and a M. S. in Bilingual Education from Northern Illinois University. She has taught graduate courses in Bilingual Special Education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and in Bilingual/ESL Early Childhood at the Erikson Institute in Chicago. She has worked in a variety of capacities since 1975 including as a bilingual teacher, a professional development specialist, a bilingual special education supervisor, and a director of Early Learners programs. She has recently been working with WIDA in the development of the new Early Learning Standards. She also has served on various state level policy advisory groups.
